Goal: Learn how to link letters smoothly without adding extra vowels.
Content: The Sukoon ( ْ ) is a small circle above a letter. It means the letter has no vowel (no Ah, Ee, or Oo sound). It is a “resting” point.
-
How to read it: You must link the previous letter directly into the letter with the Sukoon. (Example: ‘Ab’, ‘Am’, ‘In’).
-
The “No-Bounce” Rule: For most letters, the sound should stop completely. Do not say “Ab-a” or “Am-a.” Just “Ab” and “Am.”
-
Self-Correction Tip: Imagine the letter with the Sukoon is a “Stop Sign.” Your voice must come to a complete rest on that letter.
-
Exercise: Try to read the word “Al-Hamdu” (اَلْحَمْدُ). Notice the Sukoon on the ‘Lam’ and the ‘Meem’. Make sure you don’t add a “bounce” to those sounds.
